Delicious Creamy Butter Chicken | Indian Butter Chicken Masala - Sousa's Kitchen

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 lbs / 1 kg Chicken
  • 1 Big Onion
  • 5 Tomatoes
  • 1 Cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 tsp Vinegar
  • 2 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1/2 Cup Cashews
  • 1 Bunch Cilantro
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 5 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 2 tsp Fenugreek leaves (Methi)


Method
  1. In the bowl of chicken add half of the ginger garlic paste, half of the chili powder, half of the salt and mix everything together. (Marinate for 20 minutes)
  2. In a pot over medium heat add some oil, then add in the chicken pieces. Continue to cook for about 15 minutes and stir occasionally to prevent burning. After cooking the chicken remove it from the pot and set aside. 
  3. Add some more oil to the pot, and then add the onions and sauté until golden brown. Next add in the tomatoes, cashews and cook for 15 minutes. 
  4. Add 4 Cups of water, and add the Salt, Sugar, Vinegar, Garam Masala, Chili Powder, and mix everything together. Cook for about 10 minutes and allow to cool down.
  5. After it has cooled down, add the mixture into a blender and mix until smooth paste.
  6. In a pot, use a strainer and pour the masala into the strainer, add 2 cups of water and continue to strain the remainder of the masala through the strainer. 
  7. Place the pot back on the stove on medium heat, add the butter, heavy cream, and mix until everything is mixed together. 
  8. Add the chicken pieces into the pot and mix everything together. Cook for an additional 5 minutes. Add cilantro and mix together. 
  9. Add in Heavy Cream, Butter, and Fenugreek Leaves (Methi)
  10. Serve with any bread or rice and Enjoy!
